Post-Facial Aftercare: Spa Therapist Tips for Glowing, Calm Skin

A professional facial gives your skin a reset-but how you care for it afterwards makes all the difference. Our spa therapists have shared their top recommendations to help extend the benefits of your treatment and keep your skin calm, radiant, and healthy.

Before You Float Back Into the World… We recommend visiting our outdoor hot springs before your facial, rather than afterwards. Your skin will be freshly exfoliated and more sensitive to heat and UV exposure, so it’s best to enjoy soaking time ahead of your treatment.

Your After-Facial Checklist Here are the do’s and don’ts to get the most from your spa experience:

Do:

  • Hydrate generously. Drink water throughout the day to support lymphatic drainage and skin recovery.
  • Let your skin breathe. Skip makeup for the rest of the day and let your skin settle naturally.
  • Apply skincare as recommended by your therapist. We use products suited to your skin’s needs—keeping up with this at home helps extend your results.
  • Refresh your pillowcase. A clean surface helps prevent breakouts or irritation.
  • Wear sunscreen. Daily SPF is essential – even on cloudy days or if you’re mostly indoors.

Don’t:

  • Avoid sun exposure and direct UV. Skin is more vulnerable after a facial. If you’re outdoors, wear a hat and reapply SPF.
  • Skip harsh products. No exfoliants, acids, scrubs, or retinols for at least 72 hours.
  • Hold off on workouts. Avoid sweating, saunas, steam rooms, and hot showers for the rest of the day.
  • Skip the makeup. Heavy makeup can clog freshly treated skin.
  • Delay hair removal. No waxing or laser for a few days before or after your facial.

Every treatment is tailored to your skin’s condition and needs. If you’re ever unsure what to use or avoid post-treatment, check in with one of our therapists. At Deep Blue, we’re here to help your skin look and feel its best-not just today, but long after your visit.
